This is truly a gem of a movie. Great twists, wonderful atmosphere and a perfect ending that I think is almost unpredictable on a first viewing. That mysteriousness hangs over almost the entire film and I spent the entire film trying to guess which corpse was curled up in that carpet (from the opening scene). I was put on the wrong track with all those twists that were in it, so yes I think this is a really great film. The ending is of course very enlightening so I think I pretty much understand everything now.
In short, a noir film that is more than worth watching!

Excellent film about a man with insomnia who causes an accident at work. The mysterious story is slowly taking shape and the denouement works well here. Quite dark in tone and a nightmarish atmosphere here and there. A very emaciated Christian Bale impresses in the title role. Brad Anderson's best film in my opinion.

When I watched this movie I was quite tired. I think I also briefly looked with my eyes closed. And then this might not be the easiest movie to watch. But on the other hand also a very appropriate one. I looked at a man who began to have increasingly vague delusions and who seemed to be slipping further and further off the track. Kind of a psychedelic road trip. To which I could tie little rope. But in the right atmosphere that suited me at the time. And then the end of the film, where all delusions were explained, is actually quite disappointing. Was that all? I thought it was a difficult movie that I had to rewatch because maybe I closed my eyes at the wrong times. Right during very important scenes. But I think it was okay when I saw the ending. The movie wasn't that hard after all.
