The Final Cut plot

"In the end, he sees everything."

In the future, people may choose to have their unborn baby implanted with a chip. This chip records everything that person sees and hears until his death. After the death of the wearer, a so-called "Cutter" makes a "rememory" of it, the length of a film, which is viewed by the relatives during the funeral. Cutter Alan Hakman gets his hands on a chip that is much wanted by an ex-cutter, who does everything to get his hands on this chip.

Quite a nice starting point, which in my opinion could have been used a bit more. Could also get a remake with a little more tension, because you can go in all directions with this. What a crazy idea, if this is ever actually implemented. All your bad things come to light and you just have to hope that the cutter can be trusted

Hundreds of crimes would have been solved immediately, unfortunately only after the perpetrator is already dead. Robin Williams does a pretty good job, but would have preferred a different actor here and the thriller part could have been a bit darker and more exciting. Other than that, not much wrong with it.

I also think that this is a nice movie for an evening of entertainment. Robin Williams acts well. Mira Sorvino on the other hand... I thought in the movie, what kind of a B-actress is this again? (I've never heard her name before, so I don't want to say that she's really a B-actress). Anyway, I thought she was really bad.

The movie does make you think. This is of course never possible in reality, but I thought for a moment how nice it would be if you could play your own memories on a film, such as events that you do not consciously remember, for example your first years of life. On the other hand, you also see the disadvantages of this in the film, especially if you get hold of other people's memories. This is never possible in real life, but it is interesting to think about. That's why I went to see the movie. Fun for once, this movie!

In the future, everything a person sees will be registered by a chip in his brain. If someone has died, a so-called 'Cutter' has to process the footage into a film that serves in memory of this person. Alan is one of the best in his field, even the most miserable person becomes a hero under the hands of this Cutter. One day, however, he receives a chip that an old colleague of his is looking for. He himself encounters an old acquaintance between the footage...

The Final Cut is a Science Fiction/Thriller with a very strong concept. How cool would it be if you could watch all your memories like a movie? However, the film also shows that this also has adverse consequences. Robin Williams plays a particularly good role that is reminiscent of his earlier role in One Hour Photo.

The structure of the film is very strong and in the end it also word wonderfully mysterious. In the end, however, the ending was disappointing because it did not live up to expectations at all. Somehow I expected there to be some sort of organization that artificially instilled memories in people and Alan found out through his dead childhood friend that "actors" sometimes played multiple characters in some memories. None of this, however, Alan appears to have misremembered his dramatic childhood trauma and is released from his guilt. His old colleague hopes to achieve something with Alan's chip, but then the film is already over.

A good film that unfortunately has more potential than it has fulfilled.
