A setback this sci-fi classic, and that is mainly due to the choices that are made. The film mainly focuses on scientific research into the mysterious bacteria they find. As far as I'm concerned, that makes it boring, because for minutes we get to see in detail how the researchers go through all kinds of disinfection processes and then meticulously go through the (not exactly animal-friendly) research process. In addition, this remains 100% fiction (except for the dying animals I'm afraid), the meticulous attention to the scientific is therefore also rather exaggerated, and superfluous. For me, it completely took the tension and pace out of the movie, making it a long sit. Not really very entertaining, and I can't say that the knowledge gained about the 10 (?) steps of a fictitious disinfection process by a fictitious researcher using fictitious gadgets is very useful or made me think. A mediocre sci-fi classic, 2.0*.

Virus/disaster movies are not really for me. This one is also quite understated/boring. Still, I was able to enjoy this, it is mainly graphically and in terms of settings a very good film, probably one of the better in its genre. There are very nice scenes in it, especially for that time such as the monkey that collapses. I didn't follow the ending very well at first, but it was ok.

ps. I too see similarities with Alien and Aliens.

Eerily topical now with the COVID-19 virus and that's why I finally wanted to check it out. An exciting and ominous beginning was not continued all the time. Unfortunately, I had a bit of a pooping moment in the middle of the movie. I thought that was a bit long-winded and it couldn't quite hold my attention. The movie could have been about 20 minutes shorter for me.
