In the Heat of the Night plot

Commander William O. "Bill" Gillespie works for the police force in Sparta, Mississippi. Together with his colleagues, he mainly has to deal with issues that are typical of life in the poorer parts of the southeastern United States, such as racism, alcoholism, domestic violence and corruption.
