This 9th season from our friend Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) is back after eight years with entertainment as expected. Dexter, now calling himself Jim Lindsay (nod to author of the Dexter novels Jeff Lindsay), has exchanged warm Miami for a small town in the snow. The change turns out well; the cold and snow contrast beautifully with the fires, the warm Christmas atmosphere and of course the blood. Still, Dexter is unable to convince, and nearly succumbs to his mythical proportions.

Mal but entertaining comes closest as a description. It's just not the same, and certainly not exciting at all. The sometimes Fargo-esque atmosphere (or that of Twin Peaks, also good) could have been used a little heavier. As a whole, the series remains on the surface. Too little as a thriller mystery and too little as a parody. This season also leaves me cold. Maybe that doesn't matter, because New Blood is entertaining.

What a setback. After season 5, the quality deteriorated anyway, with the fiasco that is called season 8 as the icing on the collapsed pie. Now I understood that Michael C. Hall only wanted to do another season if it would really add something and it doesn't.

Wherever he goes there are swarms of serial killers (while it is really a very rare phenomenon) and that is continued nicely in a sleepy northern village. You can sense that Harrison is going to come into the picture, between the hysterical screams of Debra, but does this really add anything? It just makes the whole story more unrealistic and Dexter more unsympathetic throughout the season.

Admittedly, it's great entertainment on its own, but compared to the first 5 seasons, it's still an embarrassment. We are not even allowed a confrontation with Batista, while it seems to be hinted at.

I could make a whole story about what I didn't like, but that would be just as unnecessarily stretched as this series.

Damn this.

Son Harrison finds his father. It was obvious that Harrison has a thing or two. I think it was more anger than the dark companion.
The setting is different. Cold environment. New girlfriend. New job.
But you can wait for it. The blades are sharpened again.
The episodes are getting more and more unbelievable. The part that Harrison plays is especially bad.
It's not about actor Jack Alcott, it's about the script.
The last episode is a disappointment to me. Naturally. they wanted to put an end to it. But what Harrison is doing here doesn't make sense unless Harrison is completely nuts.
It's been nice. Don't let there be a sequel.
I have enjoyed almost all Dexter episodes.
One of the best series I've seen.
