Agree with Nore. By far the best season of Dexter, with the best season ending of any series I've seen. After that last episode I was really open-mouthed looking at my screen. I should have stopped the series after this. Somewhere in the middle of s5 I finally gave up, for me they were over the peak.
And indeed, Lithgow is great.

After a somewhat lesser third season, Dexter is back with its best season yet. As mentioned above, this is largely due to the great acting performance of John Lithgow. The writers did well to make this guest character as complex as Dexter himself. The highlight is the confrontation between Dexter and Trinity at the police station. The only characters I found more annoying than usual this season are Rita, Batista, and LaGuerta. It's a shame that everyone calls this the best season. Now I know I'm going to watch four lesser seasons.

Just finished this season for the second time.. the last episode leaves you with a pain in the stomach again. Very well written and directed.
Best season of the series! John Lithgow is great, but especially the last episode, phew..
