Baptiste (2019-2021)

Never seen so many plottwist in one series. Didn't like the first episodes much, but towards the end the tension was good. Julien Baptiste is a fantastic character and Tom Hollander also played a very strong role. It's a shame about those un-Dutch-looking locations and that all of Amsterdam suddenly speaks Flemish.

Exciting spin-off of the British series The Missing, this time starring the character of Tcheky Karyo. Unfortunately, by moving the plot lines to Amsterdam, things seem a bit clumsy at first. Many Belgian actors in the cast, many different accents... in short, a real euro pudding. Fortunately, the series gradually finds its strength and gets better and better, helped by strong play by Tom Hollander in particular (no, not a Dutchman). The plot is surprisingly well put together and there are enough sinister scenes to keep the attention. All in all worth it, although it is a bit of a bite to start at the beginning.

What an anticlimax after two top seasons of The Missing. What a weakly predictable scenario full of clichés. You can see every plot twist coming from miles away. Emotions don't work in any way. Voltage does not work. Bad acting mainly from Boris Van Severen (don't understand that he is cast so often) and Tchéky Karyo (where in previous seasons his accent still gave character, it now comes across as extremely irritating and wooden).
