Borgen plot

Birgitte Nyborg entered politics as an idealist who wants to make the world a better place. In practice she is confronted with old crocodiles and opportunists who prey on a post. During negotiations, her pragmatic side emerges: the plumber who can forge a coalition with dissenters. She learns to put water to the wine. Despite her Danish nationality, a Belgian compromise is no stranger to her.
In Caesar's time, a political rival was eliminated by literally stabbing him in the back. Nowadays it is enough to orchestrate a media scandal. Perception is more important than reality. For spin doctor Kasper Juul, politics is a strategic game that revolves around imagery and rhetoric. Investigative journalist Katrine Fønsmark has a poster of All the President's Men (1976) hanging in her room. She sees television as a window to the world, but her boss attaches more importance to viewing figures.
Characters evolve and have to deal with professional and private problems at the same time. Sidse Babett Knudsen, Pilou Asbæk and Birgitte Hjort Sørensen deliver top-notch acting. It is a high-quality drama that shows the dark side of politics without falling into cynicism. Favorite episodes: 4 and 7.

Almost ten years after the last season, the makers of this great series have dared to come up with a fourth series. And fortunately, because this is absolutely not inferior to the previous seasons. Birgitte Nyborg (again masterfully played by Sidse Babett Knudsen) is now Minister of Foreign Affairs and becomes involved in an oil crisis in Greenland. The plot lines are as always intelligent, compelling and exciting and the characters are still very intriguing. The cake seems to really run out, but you never know.
