White Lines (2020)

Sometimes you have those moments when you don't know which series you want to watch on Netflix. A mess of 7 seasons is another ordeal and you have already seen everything that seems worth it. At random, you make a choice and hope it goes well.

I knew very little about this beforehand. I have nothing to do with Spain or Ibiza and La Casa de Papel has completely passed me by. Still, I have to say that White Lines appealed to me quite quickly. The alternation between British and Spanish was very pleasant and the beautiful locations gave me a light holiday feeling.

What I got to see was pleasantly surprising. There's a mystery to it, some unlikely humor, and plenty of characters interesting enough to make you want to keep watching. The only thing that bothered me a lot was the absurdist violence that happens in roughly the first three episodes.

Then I was pleasantly surprised by this stylish series. It is actually a crime soap with comic elements that is very atmospheric at times.

The final denouement was satisfying but I have to admit that I got tired of some of the characters towards the end of the series. The main problem was that they were quite one-dimensional, but luckily it was always compensated by some beautiful moments.

All in all, I thought it was a special series that was a bit too violent for my taste, but thanks to an interesting mystery, good acting and some nice storylines, it was definitely worth watching.

Friends thought I MUST see this one.
I've kept it up for a few episodes but I don't care.
I don't feel empathy, find it boring, the atmosphere doesn't appeal to me.
Not exciting
As so often, a matter of taste...but I'll skip it.
