Rectify plot

Rectify follows Daniel Holden's life from his release from prison. There he spent 19 years on death row before DNA evidence contradicted the original verdict. Holden, who was eighteen when he was found guilty and convicted of the brutal rape and murder of a sixteen-year-old girl, returns to his family and hometown where the murder took place, and where many still believe in his guilt. Daniel waited his entire adult life for his death. Now he has to learn to live again, or decide whether he wants to, while others wonder whether he should have that chance.

I'm not that good with this series yet. It's beautifully written, of course, but it didn't make me want to watch this season in a row. It was just a little too slow and dramatic for me. Will give season 2 a chance soon when it's on Netflix (New Year's Eve I believe).

Did more people feel like watching Tom Hardy? Thought this actor was very similar in looks and attitude.

Sometimes you don't know why a series has everything to enchant you - great cinematography, great actors, well-written script - and yet it just doesn't get gripping. The only thing I can think of is that the symbolism of 'Daniel Holden is free from Death Row but still trapped in his head' is overblown. After yet another shot in which Holden is framed as if there were fictional bars around him, I was starting to get a little tired of it. The string orchestra is also fully present to trumpet pathos when Daniel is lying on a 'football field' stroking grass or playing an old console game. There's something very dull about it. Still, I'm still going to pick up the second series, because I care enough about the Holden family to want to know what their future holds. Hopefully the follow-up seasons turn out to be less bombastic.

Best series ever in my opinion. Slow. Realistic. Deeply human. Beautiful dialogues and excellently developed characters. Nothing spectacular. Sometimes apparently nothing happens, but everything is in the details. Very Realistic
