Star Trek: The Next Generation season 1

The Star Trek series that made me grow up. Then in later years.

Nice concept to make every episode almost a small film. The start of the new crew is very good but is not really at the level that is still achieved in this series. Very nice to see how the actors are very attuned to each other and will provide the longest running Star Trek series including a number of films. Stories vary a bit in quality. There are some lesser ones in between, but you can hardly ignore their potential and the effort that has gone into it.

Furthermore, the effects look pretty good considering the budget, the make-up is of a high level and that also applies to the rest of the technical aspect. As mentioned, each episode really feels like a mini movie.

Acting is very nice here. A big part of why TNG works very well too. Everyone is fantastic.

Star Trek: The Next Generation season 5

All in all a strong season. After the traditionally strong season opener, "Darmok", an episode that contains everything Star Trek stands for, immediately hits the spot. After this, it looks like a rerun of the first season; some uninteresting episodes, but after that almost all episodes are interesting and there is enough variety. What is striking is that Captain Picard is less present this season, but when he is pushed to the foreground, it is also a hit. Darmok, I, Borg and the sublime "The Inner Light", which is arguably the best Picard episode ever. Other Highlights: "The Game", "Ethics", "Cause and Effect" and "Cost of Living". Some of the characters from the non-regular cast who didn't succeed in the previous seasons (Lwaxana Troi and Alexander, Worf's son) come to the fore here. The season closes with the exciting and highly original "The Inner Light"
