Britain's Got Talent singer Susan Boyle delighted fans with the news in a huge announcement on her birthday, five years on from releasing her most recent album
Scots singing sensation Susan Boyle has teased a major comeback as she announced she has started working on 'new projects'.
Taking to social media, the Britain's Got Talent star announced the exciting news as she marked her 64th birthday today.
Susan, who stays humble in her Lothian council house, has not released an album in five years.
Taking to Facebook, she released a video entitled 'I'm back', where she said: "I'm back! I'm definitely back!" in the clip of her chatting to the camera as she donned a glamorous hot pink suit and glittering heels.
In a post with the video she wrote: "Today’s a special day — it’s my birthday! But I’ve got something exciting to share… I’m back and working on some wonderful new projects that I can’t wait for you to hear about!," she wrote alongside a star emoji.
The post continued: "More news will be coming very soon, but I just wanted to say how much I’ve missed you all. Your support means the world to me and I’m more determined and excited than ever. Love, Susan x"
Fans soon rushed to the comments section to share their excitement about the news, and wish the star a delightful birthday on Tuesday.
"Happy Birthday to an amazing person! Can't wait to hear about what's next for you," wrote one fan.
Someone else chimed, "Happy Birthday! Beautiful voice beautiful person. "Wishing you a beautiful day ! You fill our hearts with joy and song. You’re the voice of an angel. God bless," penned another.
Another fan echoed, "Happiest of Birthdays Ms. Boyle. I cannot wait to hear new music from you. You have such a beautiful voice. Enjoy your day sweet lady," alongside a string of heart emojis.
BGT career and success
Susan Boyle launched into overnight fame following her Britain's Got Talent audition back in 2009, where she blew audiences and viewers at home away with her rendition of "I Dreamed A Dream" from Les Misérables.
Unfortunately she narrowly missed out on winning the ITV talent show to dance group Diversity, coming in at second place.
However, it wasn't long before she reached global success in the years following - releasing multiple albums and touring across the country. Her most recent album, Ten, was released in 2019. So it becomes huge news to fans as a teaser for new music.
The Scottish star has had the honour of not only performing for the late Queen, but also the likes of President Obama and the Pope.
Health struggles
Susan has openly discussed the mental health challenges she faced in the aftermath of her sudden fame, including a public breakdown and a diagnosis of Asperger's syndrome.
In 2022, she had a minor stroke and revealed the news during an appearance on BGT when she returned to perform on the show in 2023.
Despite her fame and net worth totalling in tens of millions, Susan continues to enjoy the humbling pleasures of life, such as living in her West Lothian home which she purchased right next door to the house she grew up in.
