A Warwickshire police team have revealed a UK first - 'sniffer cats'. Stratford Safer Neighbourhood Team has today (April 1) posted about its two newest recruits - Police Feline Maui and Police Feline Dinkles.
They say that PF Maui and PF Dinkles are specially trained drug detection felines having secured funding for a pilot scheme from the government.
"The aim is to move away from police dogs to a friendlier and less confrontational police felines with a view to rolling it out in all police forces across the country," he post on the Stratford team police page reads.

The post continued: "The advantage of police felines is their ability to gain access to hard to reach places that police dogs ordinarily would not be able to access. Cats are also known to have a higher level of intelligence than dogs too."
The spoof post prompted some brilliant responses with one saying: "It’s a brilliant idea- instead of biting and grounding the suspect they can sneer with total distain and disappointment.
"Always at the forefront of innovation Stratford Police."
Another said: "Sniffer cats" while another Facebook page follower rumbled the post and said: "Happy April Fool."
