This Scottish detective novel is very much north of the border with terms some of us do not recognise but still get the gist of. A murder and a missing girl are part of the daily grind for Logan and this is quite light hearted at times to deal with it all. An easy enjoyable read that makes you feel at home (despite some of the happenings) and think at what some have to put up with either in life or as a part of their job. From cows in the road, to drug crimes and more this keeps rolling through the pages. Parts are rather repetitive “big car” Batter on” “safe to talk” etc. but I suppose this is the life of a cop. However this is a novel and I did feel that it could have moved along rather more than it did as at times I wondered where the story thread had disappeared to. I haven’t read the rest in the series so cannot compare it to the others however this did stand alone. Logan is a loveable character and you can’t help liking him and his tenacity just to get the job done no matter whose toes he is standing on (or about to). A pleasurable read but a little slow for me.
