EasyJet is projecting one of the busiest Easter getaways in the airline’s history.
The budget airline expected to fly up to 4.2 million passengers over the Easter holidays, with almost 10,000 more seats offered over the bank holiday weekend compared to last year.
The peak is expected on Good Friday (April 18) when up to 262,000 passengers are due to be flown on more than 1,800 flights across the airline’s route network.
The UK will see up to 145,000 set to fly to or from 21 airports on 1,101 flights.
Dalaman, Majorca and Tenerife are among top destinations for easyJet holidays, with Amsterdam, Barcelona and
Paris for family Disneyland breaks being the city breaks of choice.
Flights have also started to Sal in Cape Verde from Gatwick and Tbilisi in Georgia from Luton.
A total of 110 new routes are being introduced this summer, including 44 from the UK, with seven additional Airbus A320 family aircraft joining the fleet.
UK country manager Ali Gayward said: “Easter is one of our busiest times for travel for flights and package holidays, which sees millions of holidaymakers jetting off to enjoy some spring sunshine, hit the slopes or visit friends and family. This year will be no exception, with up to three million of them expected to fly with easyJet for our unrivalled choice of destinations across Europe and beyond.
“As we kick off our biggest ever summer season, with over 1,000 routes including 110 new services launching across our network, we’re focused on providing great value and choice, always aiming to make travel easy for the 100 million customers we’ll fly this year and we can’t wait to welcome them on board.”
