Sharon Stone Claims She Was Cast in Another Simple Favor Before Being 'Removed from My Role Unexpectedly'

Sharon Stone claims she was hired for Another Simple Favor before being "unexpectedly" removed from the cast.

On Thursday, March 13, the actress, 67, commented under an Instagram post of the E! News show Hot Goss, saying she was cast in the new movie but was given the boot “for no reason at all.”

“I LOVED being cast and removed from my role unexpectedly for no reason at all LOVED it 👏👏👏👏,” wrote Stone.

Reacting in the comment section, E! News wrote: “DO TELL, @sharonstone.” Hot Goss also commented, “Holding a🍸 for this ☕️ @sharonstone.”

A source close to the production told PEOPLE March 14 that director Paul Feig "had spoken to Sharon Stone about a role in the film, but the financials didn't work out."

“As often is the case, the budgets didn’t align. No one was dropped from a role. There was interest, as often is the case with movies, and budgets didn’t align. That’s how benign it is. You have to be cast before you’re dropped. She was never cast, so she wasn’t dropped," said the source.

Reps for Stone, Feig and Amazon MGM Studios did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's requests for comment.

Another Simple Favor premiered at the 2025 SXSW Film & TV Festival in Austin, Texas, earlier this month. In addition to stars Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick, the cast includes Alex Newell, Aparna Nancherla, Kelly McCormack, Michele Morrone, Elizabeth Perkins and Allison Janney.

Kendrick and Lively, who starred in the first 2018 A Simple Favor movie, were filmed greeting fans and signing autographs as they promoted the sequel at the premiere on Friday, March 7.

Per an official synopsis, Another Simple Favor follows Kendrick's character Stephanie and Lively's character Emily as they "head to the beautiful island of Capri, Italy, for Emily’s extravagant wedding to a rich Italian businessman," where deadly twists occur.

Kendrick previously spoke to PEOPLE in October about reuniting with Lively on set, describing the reunion as “lovely."

“She lives on the East Coast, I live on the West Coast, so we don't get to see each other often,” Kendrick said. “But it was lovely, and I think that those characters have such weird chemistry that it's so fun to just get the gang back together. And it does feel a little bit like riding a bike.”

Stone was recently cast in the upcoming third season of Euphoria, and she'll star in the action sequel Nobody 2 with Bob Odenkirk.
