Bartley has made nine appearances for Sheffield United this season
Sheffield United defender Kyle Bartley could be out for two months after suffering a fractured cheekbone.
The 19-year-old, who is on loan from Arsenal, sustained the injury in a clash with Dele Adebola in Tuesday's 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest.
"It was a clash of heads," said Blades boss Gary Speed. "Kyle got there first, but it was certainly an accident."
Meanwhile, United defender Matt Lowton, 21, has signed a new deal that keeps him at Bramall Lane until summer 2012.
"My existing deal was due to run out next summer but hopefully the new contract will give me the time to develop and learn from the coaches and senior players," Lowton told the club's website.
It was Lowton who came off the bench to replace the injured Bartley in the draw at the City Ground, where Richard Cresswell's early opener was cancelled out by Paul McKenna.
"We knew it was fractured straight away and he was taken to hospital for treatment," added Speed.
"There was no blame attached to Dele, he's not that sort of player, but he got there fractionally later than Kyle, who came off worse.
Bartley joined the Blades on a season-long loan in August after completing a three-month spell at Bramall Lane at the end of last term.
