Flypaper plot

"Two sets of bank robbers. One very sticky heist."

Tripp Kennedy (Patrick Dempsey) walks into a bank at closing time just as two different gangs unknowingly come together to commit a robbery. A firefight ensues, and Tripp turns to clever, handsome bank teller Kaitlin (Ashley Judd) to protect her. The gangs - a bunch of professionals and a bunch of buffoons - are in a stalemate. At the end of the day, the security system shuts down the entire building and locks everyone in. During the ensuing night, a hilarious cat-and-mouse game ensues between Tripp and Kaitlin as they try to make it through the night, nearly get killed in an escape attempt, and try to prevent them from falling in love.

“You fuckin' mugs are the worst bank robbers I've ever seen, do you know that?”

Friendly. Flypaper is a mess and Dempsey isn't a great casting choice for this kind of role, but with a couch as the setting and the many characters trying to outsmart each other, you have an entertaining farce. Sometimes funny too, with especially Blake Nelson, Taylor Vince and Ryan having their funny moments. Judd and Dempsey are mediocre together (Judd is good on her own), and in the end a lot of twists are thrown at it. With a surprising final twist, I have to give the film that.
