Young copywriter Phillip Katz (Joe Cross) experiences stigmata in church and is seen as the new Messiah by ambitious reporter Josephine Tuttle (Heather Graham). Phillip is led away to a luxury hotel suite when politicians, reporters and devoted fans pounce on him, each hoping to exploit him for their own ends. After becoming the most famous man on the planet within a day, Phillip must decide how to use his newfound fame.
