Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom plot

"If adventure has a name... it must be Indiana Jones."

Indiana Jones, Short Round and the enchanting nightclub singer Willie Scott are brought together by fate in the same adventure. They narrowly escape death on their way to India. Later they end up in a childless village. Indy promises the village chief that he will find the sacred Sankara stone, which will restore the village's fertility.

Very childish sequel to part 1. Insofar as the series was not already.

Typical adventure story that can best be compared 25 years later with the third Mummy part. 25 years later, however, it turns out that the special effects are no longer to be seen (that plane that flies against the mountainside ), the sets are very poor and stage-like and the children's horror is really no longer possible.

Especially the latter makes this film very aimed at a younger audience. Some skulls, smoke and bugs. Not impressed at all with the whole setting.

Two scenes stand out. On the one hand the dinner with the filth. The only scene where the humor and "gore" worked a bit. In addition, the mine carts, although there was also too much bluescreen nonsense. Very badly done unfortunately.

Ford remains a woodblock and that woman's level of irritation can only be justified if she dies very painfully somewhere in the film. The baby adds absolutely nothing.

That of course all takes another 120 minutes, because there is also so much to see and tell in a film like this one .

One and a half nice scene, together good for 1 *.

Without knowing that he directed it, it is clear that this is a Spielberg film. The film starts with a real James Bond-like opening scene, but in Spielberg's way. Unfortunately, the rest of the film no longer manages to reach the level of this long opening scene. Furthermore, the film does not feel like an Indiana Jones film, but more like the children's version of a James Bond film. The film only reaches the level of the previous film at the beginning of the film. Other than that, it's not boring, but it does feel a bit too childish. 2.5*

Bad.

I didn't like Raiders of the Lost Ark a few years ago, but The Last Crusade did, so I gave this one a chance. Unfortunately, Steven Spielberg cannot appeal to me with this second part either. The opening scene, a bit James Bond-esque, still contains some panache. Afterwards it is hopelessly lost (or it has to be the last bit of action, deep in the finale).

Harrison Ford is pretty boring, but that shouldn't be a problem in itself. The combo with Sean Connery in part 3 might work just as well because he's such a boring coat rack. However, his sidekicks here are very annoying. I can understand from that child that some might like that, but Kate Capshaw (never heard of it, apparently Mrs. Spielberg) is not to be seen. Hopelessly annoying, from the first to the last second.

If the film doesn't really have much more to offer than some tame voodoo stuff in studios that don't seem very authentic, then it's a waste of time. Indiana Jones is an icon of the adventure film, in my opinion it can be much more adventurous, grotesque, in locations that appeal to the imagination. And preferably with a little more tension. I might have liked this when I was 10, something that unfortunately was some time ago.

1,5
