If they had shortened the film by half an hour we would have had a pretty good action film with a slightly comic touch, now it is mainly a well shot film with nice acting, which, however, breaks down at times. However, the positives are more than enough to make the film highly recommended, Kostner and Russel were rarely in such a good mood.

Watched it again last night, and the movie couldn't quite redeem the memory I had left. What I remembered was a more than fine action movie, but I could hardly imagine that the story and dialogues were so mediocre. Was actually bored to see the beginning until the squat itself. The dialogues and events were very sparse, especially the dialogues. Halfway through, a sharper joke or comment comes along that I think would have done that from the start, but alas. The action is fine, except for the final shootout, because it's just a bit over the top. Russell does it on autopilot, Costner puts down a fairly unpredictable bad guy in his own right and Cox is raving about in her tight outfits. But then we've had it all.

20 years ago a nice and entertaining action spectacle, nowadays something that is no longer of this time.
